Last night, I had the chance to go to the prescreen of a new Disney film, Queen of Katwe. The film starred David Oyelowo, Lupita Nyong’o, and Madina Nalwanga.
The film took place in Katwe, Uganda, where we meet Phiona, who learns the game of chess. Not too long after that, she win several championships, and then become a Women’s Candidate Master. This true story inspires all to never give up on your dreams, and you alone can limit yourself so trust that you can be the best.
I loved that Phiona, no matter what, believed and fought to become the best chest player in Uganda. She gave hope and became a hero in her community. I also liked that the coach believed in her when no one else did. He knew she was destined to be the best.
Queen of Katwe will be in theaters, September 30! You should go see it! Its an awesome movie!
